My Mom and I love to sew, her Birthday was coming up, so I wanted to sew her something really special, so I went looking on Youtube for an interesting idea she could use in her sewing room and I found this beautiful pincushion idea. If you sew you completely understand that we seamstresses collect a lot of pins, glass pins plastic round headpins, t headpins, etc…  The list goes on and on, so a variety of pincushions makes perfect sense!  This Petal Pincushion I found on Youtube was so gorgeous, I knew my Mom was going to love it and I already had a piece of vintage velveteen printed fabric and a few gorgeous antique buttons I bought from an antique fair in Fredricksburg, Texas that was perfect for the project. I started by getting my materials together, my antique fabric, buttons, 100% cotton pearl thread, thread snips, fabric scissors, pinking shears, a handful of polyester stuffing, a few fabric pins, a chopstick or corner stick, and a round object to trace around such as a saucer or the top of a biscuit tin.

Then you cut out the circles you just drew and place right sides together then sew, remember to leave an opening to turn your pincushion inside out and stuff. Then it is a good idea to trim the edges with pinking shears to prevent any fraying because these pincushions are stuffed pretty tight.

Then I turned the pincushion right side out and stuffed it nice and snug with some dacron batting, you can use any stuffing here, rice would even work.

Then I cut a section of my Pearl Thread and threaded my needle then went straight through the center, through each side. Then I went around the pincushion making petal formations from and back to the center. At the end, I added the button. with the same thread, I was left with and that was it! You are done, my friends!
