This type of stitch is a great technique to close a seam. It is also called a blind stitch, as it is sewn from the inside of the garment, making it invisible. To do this, you’ll make evenly spaced stitches, and as you go along, you can see the ladder forming. It’s very easy to do. If you are a beginner in sewing, you only need a little practice, and you’ll master it in no time. This technique is great for stuffed toys, cushion covers, linings, binding, and pillows.  If you are wondering if it’s durable – yes, it is! Instructions

Step 1:

Start by inserting the thread into the needle and knotting the ends, just like you would for any sewing project.

Step 2:

Finger press the seam allowance inward for the top and bottom fabrics. You can also iron it before sewing the edges. This will make the sewing process easier.

Step 3:

Open the gap and insert the needle from the underside of the top fabric. Next, take the needle and insert it on the bottom fabric, picking up a little bit of the material, near where the folded area is.

Step 4:

After that, pick up a little bit of the material on the top part and continue this process. It should start to look like a ladder as the name suggests, then pull the thread tightly, closing the gap. Keep doing this until the hole is closed, then make a knot. After that, do one more stitch to secure it and trim off the excess.
