I’m a huge coffee fan, I can’t even go through a day without having a cup of coffee, and this sewing project by Crafty For Home on YouTube is something I would definitely try making! I feel like I won’t be able to stop sewing just one piece of this adorable coffee cup cozy, you should try this too.

Step 1

Trace the template on the first fabric and quilt batting making sure to add ¼” seam allowance, then flip the template over, and trace it on the second fabric adding ¼” seam allowance as well. Mark the area for the finger sleeve either on the fabric of the batting. Trace the template for the finger sleeve on the fabric and quilt batting adding ¼” seam allowance. Assemble the finger sleeve, lay the quilt batting first, then place one fabric on top with its wrong side facing down, then the other fabric on top with its wrong side facing up. Pin them together in place, then mark ¼” around for the seam allowance, and sew on those marks making sure to leave a gap for turning. After sewing, turn the fabric right side out, then poke the corners nicely, give it a nice press, and topstitch along the hem.

Step 2

Now for the coffee cup sleeve, lay the quilt batting at the bottom, place the fabric on top with its wrong side facing down, position the hair elastic at the side, then top it with the finger sleeve, and lastly, the other fabric with its wrong side facing up. Pin them together in place as well as the elastics, then align the raw edges of the finger and cup sleeve together, and sew them around the seam allowance line making sure to leave a gap for turning later. Trim off the excess from the elastic, then turn the whole piece to its right side out, and poke the corners nicely. Give the coffee sleeve a good press, then topstitch along the hem, not including the finger sleeve. Mark the spot where the button should be placed on both sides of the fabric, then sew the buttons in place.
