First, remove the batteries from the device, then add some vinegar to a bowl or any container, and place the corroded batteries in the vinegar. Allow them to soak while cleaning off the device, then dip the Q tip or cotton swab into the vinegar, and clean off the device from any gunk or buildup. Make sure to thoroughly dry the device with a paper towel, then dry and clean the soaked batteries as well, and then put the new set of batteries back into the device.
