Materials:

  • sandpaper 80 to 2500
  • blue painter’s tape
  • sandable primer
  • basecoat color
  • gloss clear coat
  • plastic spreaders
  • body filler

To make the paint shinier:

  • compound
  • polish
  • microfiber towels
  • polish sponges

Directions:

Step 1

To start, use 180-grit sandpaper to sand the scratches, then use a clean microfiber towel to clean up the dust. Next, mix the body filler with the hardener to the right ratio according to the can. Look for the deep scratches because this is where you will apply the body fillers. Use a plastic spreader to apply the body filler on the deep scratches, then let it dry. After letting it dry for around 10 minutes, use 80 grit sandpaper to smoothen out the areas that you just worked on, then use again 80 grit sandpaper to make it smoother. Clean out the area with a microfiber towel and prepare for painting. (Use blue painter’s tape to cover areas that you don’t want to be affected by the spray paint.)

Step 2

Moving on with the painting, first, use the sandable primer. Apply a light coat and wait for five minutes to apply another coat. (Apply a total of three coats with each coat covering more and more areas.) After the last coat, let it dry for about 30 minutes. Next, wet the 800-grit sandpaper and use it for wet sanding the area. After this, clean up the area to sand it again with the 1500-grit wet sandpaper, then use 2500-grit wet sandpaper to make sure that the area is smooth before painting again. (Clean out the area with a microfiber towel before painting.) Just like the primer, spray the area with a light coat first, waiting five minutes between coats with each coat covering more and more areas. After 30 minutes, apply a gloss clear coat. Spray the area with a light coat first, waiting five minutes between coats, with each coat covering more and more areas again. Once done painting, let everything dry overnight. The next morning, clean out the area with water and a microfiber towel and let it dry for five minutes. After it dries, dab some compound onto the area using a sponge. Using firm pressure, polish it with a compound in overlapping passes. After five passes, wipe it off with a clean microfiber towel. Let it dry for five minutes, then use a polish. Using firm pressure again, polish it with a polished product and overlapping passes. After five passes, wipe it off with a clean microfiber towel.
