Who would’ve thought that you could use a key to open a wine bottle? It is super easy to do, but you might need a little bit of force. Take note that this mostly works with synthetic corks. So before you lose hope and throw that bottle of wine away, give this trick a try. Just make sure to use sturdy keys, not the thin ones that can easily snap.

Start by removing the cover to get access to the cork.
Take your key and push it down into the side of the cork at an angle like in the photo below.
Get a piece of cloth or a towel, and push the key as deep as you can all the way into the cork.
Use your thumbs to push the key around. This will help break the seal between the cork and the bottle. As you are rotating it, carefully lift up the key at the same time to start removing the cork out of the bottle. The key will start to rip a little bit but at this point you can grip the cork with your hand and pull it out the rest of the way.
