Materials:

  • mason jars (about 12 oz)
  • solar stake lights
  • e6000 hot glue
  • frosted glass spray
  • colored tissue paper (any color you want)
  • scissors
  • tape

Directions:

Step 1

Take off the lids of the mason jars. Remove the flat piece on the lid and flip them over. Take the stake lights apart. Take out the unnecessary parts like the bottom, the little plastic piece, and the little tab that says “removed before using”. You don’t need these pieces, the remaining part will fit perfectly into the lid. Next, take the first lid upside down and put a thin layer of epoxy all around the edge. Be very careful not to get it into the solar panel. After this, press it down inside the center of the lid. Let it rest and do the same thing to the other lids. While waiting for them to dry, take the jars outside and spray them with some frosted glass spray.

Step 2

Once they are dry, put the lids back on top of the jars. If you want to do a colored jar, take a piece of colored tissue paper and cut a little square, then get a little piece of tape. Cover the light with it. (Take note that you should let the epoxy rest for at least a couple of hours so the solar panel would not fall out.) Place the mason jars in a window or anywhere that they could get sunlight.
