I found this awesome jelly roll strings quilt blocks video tutorial by Lori Holt, on YouTube, and I loved this idea for using my fabric scraps. Lori’s method of making these blocks is so cool, she does them in a sew-as-you-go method, where she sews the strips to a 9″ x 9″ piece of interfacing. Lori even says she doesn’t clip off the interfacing at the end like how it is done in chain stitch embroidery work. The interfacing is literally left on the block and the quilt is made as is. Now, doesn’t that sound easy? The strips she uses vary between 1 1/2 inches and 2 1/2 inches in width, so the quilt has a real scrappy down-home look.
