When I saw this awesome battery-making hack by Dave Hax, on YouTube, I really wanted to try it! Not so much because I needed a battery, but because it looked like a super fun idea, and I am always game for a science experiment. This is such a cool project! I just loved this battery project, mine turned out really good. I ended up making a couple of them for my friends as well.

Materials For The DIY Coin Battery:

  • A stack of pure copper coins
  • Some thin cardboard
  • Distilled vinegar
  • Foil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • Packing tape
  • 2 wires
  • 2 alligator clips

Then you will tape the ends of your wires, to the coin roll and then add the alligator clips to the other end of the wires. You will then have a battery that is ready to use!
