Hiring a professional to clean your upholstery can be quite expensive, so this tutorial on how to clean upholstery at home from Rachel Pereira – Shades of Blue Interiors on Youtube is a big help. Who would have thought it’s possible to clean your upholstery with just products in your home? It’s easy, quick, and, most importantly, inexpensive. Watch the video tutorial below to learn how.

Materials:

  • fabric shaver/lint trimmer
  • spray bottle filled with hot water
  • spray bottle filled with 3:1 water & laundry stain remover
  • spray bottle filled with 2:1 sparkling water & vinegar
  • white cotton rags

Directions:

Step 1

Spray some very hot tap water to the entire fabric surface of the upholstery. Next, get the spray bottle filled with 3:1 water and laundry stain remover and spray it to the areas that are the dirtiest. After this, scrub and remove the dirt using white cotton rags. (Switch to different parts of the rag as you scrub.) Switch also to new rags often to avoid rubbing the dirt back to the fabric.

Step 2

Get the spray bottle filled with sparkling water and vinegar and spray it all over the fabric surface. After spraying, scrub it again with white rags. (Keep cleaning with rags until you don’t see any more dirt. Switch to fresh rags if the rag you’re using is already dirty.) Repeat the same process in cleaning the next upholstery. Finally, use a lint trimmer/fabric shaver to remove pilling. (You can spray with some Scotchgard protector after.)
