Materials:

  • borax (found in the laundry section of your local supermarket)
  • boiling water
  • small bowls (not used for eating)
  • spoon
  • honey
  • spray bottles or bottle caps

Note: borax has low toxicity for people and animals, but not for ants. When ants consume this ingredient, it interferes with their digestive system and gradually kills them. This allows time for the worker ants to consume the bait, head back to their nest, and share it with the rest of the colony and queen. Just to make sure, keep it away from dogs, cats, lizards, or butterflies.

Instructions:

Step 1:

Boil a bit of water. Put about 2 tablespoons of borax in your bowl and pour some boiling water. Mix it well until it completely dissolves.

Step 3:

Set it aside and let it cool down for a few minutes.

Step 4:

Once it’s cooled, you can transfer the mixture to a spray bottle. You can spray it on the walls, or drip it down them. Or you can also put some on bottle caps and place them on areas where the ants are gathering. You can also pour it on the leaves of your plants. Give it a few minutes and the ants will be all over it.
