1. Contrast hydrotherapy

Did you know that hydrotherapy can lessen the pain and discomfort you are feeling? This type uses both warm and cold water. We are all aware that warm water helps in blood flow, while cold water brings down swelling.

Instructions:

Get two foot tubs. Fill one with cold water and the other with warm. Soak your feet first in the warm water for about 3 to 4 minutes. After that, put your feet straight into the cold water for about 1 minute. Continue switching between the two tubs for 15 to 20 minutes. Repeat a few times a day until the swelling is down.

2. Foot massage

Massaging your feet helps your blood to flow and helps extra fluid drain to bring down the swelling.

Instructions:

Rub warm mustard oil or olive oil on the swollen area of your feet. Gently massage it for about 5 minutes in an upward direction. Do not put too much pressure. Repeat a few times a day. It is best to do it during or after taking a bath.

3. Epsom salt

This can bring down the swelling very salt and soothe the pain because of magnesium sulfate.

Instructions:

Fill a foot tub with warm water and add 1/2 cup of Epsom salt. Mix then soak your feet for 15 to 20 minutes. Repeat 3 times a week.

4. Ginger

It is a natural diuretic that lessens the sodium from the body.

Instructions:

Massage swollen feet 3 times a day using ginge roil. You can also chew raw ginger or drink 2 to 3 cups of ginger tea.

5. Dandelion

Instructions:

Combine 1 teaspoon of fresh or dried dandelion leaves with 1 cup of hot water. Cover and let it sit for 5 minutes before removing the leaves. Drink this 2 to 3 times a day.

6. Exercise

You can swim, walk, or jog for 30 minutes at least 5 days a week.  You can also try leg strengthening and stretching exercises or yoga.

7. Magnesium

If it’s caused by edema, make sure to eat food that is full of magnesium.

8. Elevate your feet higher than the level of your heart

9. Limit the amount of salt and caffeine intake

10. Eat fresh fruits and avoid canned foods

11. Drink lots of water

12. Avoid sitting for long hours
