Materials:

  • Toothpaste, do not use gel
  • Baking soda, optional
  • Toothbrush
  • Spray bottle
  • Warm water
  • Paper towel
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Wax

Directions:

Step 1

The first thing that you have to do is to feel the texture of your headlights to see whether the yellowness is coming from the inside or the outside, if it feels rough and you see a lot of spots, then here’s a quick and simple remedy to turn your yellow and oxidized headlights clear again. Get a toothpaste with a grittiness to it, it should not be in gel form or it wouldn’t work that much, it’s better if you can use a toothpaste with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide on it, but you can always add some baking soda to your solution later. Simply add a bunch of toothpaste to your fingers, then rub it in the headlight until completely covered.

Step 2

Now, grab an old toothbrush, then brush it really good, the more yellow and hazier the longer you need to brush, add more toothpaste as needed, you can also use a Dremel with a soft buffing bit to brush the headlight faster and easier, just make sure to use a low setting. Spray it with warm water, then grab a paper towel, and start rubbing it with a good amount of pressure to buff the headlight. Spray it again with warm water, then grab a clean towel, and wipe it well. Once clean and dry, rub some wax all over it, this will serve as a protective layer to avoid the headlight from getting yellow faster. Lastly, after a few minutes, wipe the wax away with a microfiber cloth, and you’re done!
