This quilt project by Jordan Fabrics on YouTube is truly a treat to the eye and is so fun to make. You only need some fat quarters or layer cake squares to make this quilt and you can probably finish this within just a day because it’s that easy to piece together. Even beginners can try this quilt project for good practice and to improve their skills. Watch this video tutorial now to learn how.

Materials:

  • Fat quarters or layer cake squares
  • Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
  • Ruler
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
  • Needle and thread
  • Iron, for pressing
  • Sewing machine
  • Pattern (Click here to download the pattern)

Directions:

Step 1

Pick the fabrics that you want to use, then iron them flatly, and cut them depending on the size of the quilt that you want to make. Refer to the diagram for the measurements. Stack 2 squares of each color together with their right sides up, then cut them diagonally from corner to corner making sure to curve them a little as you go, take the top fabric, and place it on the bottom of the stack so that the colors are now opposite from each other.

Step 2

Match the opposite pieces with their right sides together, then start stitching them together along the curves making sure to match the edges as nicely as possible, and press the seams toward the darker fabric. Iron the block flatly, then trim it down to a square, and proceed to make more blocks using the same steps but mix and match the colors this time. Lay out the blocks however you want or as shown in the video, then stitch them per row, and then stitch the rows to each other. Add the border, binding, backing, and quilt however you want.
