Cut the print fabric into 2 strips at 3″x 8″ and 2 squares at 3″x 3″, then cut the solid fabric into 2 strips at 3″x 5.5″ and 4 squares at 3″x 3″. Lay the print strip vertically, then place the solid square below it, and another beside the top part of the strip. Place another print strip below the solid square, then put a solid strip beside the top square, a print square below it, and then a solid square at the bottom. On the leftmost side, place a solid strip at the bottom, then a print square above it, and a solid square at the top. Stitch the pieces together into columns or strips, then stitch the columns to each other, and press the seams as you go.
