Materials:

  • Tie-down straps
  • Spade or edger
  • Hand rake
  • Mulch
  • Preen Garden weed preventer

Directions:

Step 1

Wrap and loop a tie-down strap around the base of the tree, then insert the spade or edge on the loop and pull it tightly away from the tree. Start pushing the spade down the ground, then pull it, and move to the side next to it until you’ve cut the whole perimeter of the tree’s base. Start digging the ground inside the perimeter, then throw the sod away, or set it aside if you want to use it somewhere in your yard or garden.

Step 2

You can use a hand rake at this point to remove any leftover grass and to expose the base of the tree nicely, then make sure to make the ground nice, clean, and flat, and sprinkle some Preen Garden solution all over the dirt to prevent future weeds from growing. Now, add a layer of mulch that is thick enough to even out the ground, then sprinkle more Preen Garden solution all over the top, and allow the mulch to soak the solution in.
