Quilting is a favorite hobby of mine and recently I love trying out quilt ideas that use fabric scraps and have little to no leftover fabrics. It’s definitely nicer and just the idea of having no scraps at all is simply incredible because it saves me from a lot of clutter. Plus, this quilt turned out pretty easy and lovely, and of course, it’s all thanks to this wonderful video tutorial by Jordan Fabrics on YouTube!

Materials:

  • Fabric scraps cut into 2½ inches wide
  • Accent fabric
  • Binding fabric
  • Backing fabric
  • Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
  • Ruler
  • Needle and thread
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
  • Iron, for pressing
  • Sewing machine
  • Pattern (Click here to download the pattern for free)

Directions:

Step 1

Piece together the fabric scraps until you have 64 pieces of 20 inches long strips and 32 pieces of 10 inches long strips, then press them flatly. Cut the fabric accent into 2½-inch squares, then draw a line at their wrong sides diagonally from corner to corner.

Step 2

Sew 1 accent square on each end of the 20-inch strip with their right sides facing together and their lines going the opposite upward way as shown in the video, then for the 10-inch strip, divide them into 2 groups, and sew only 1 accent square on each side, but make sure that the direction of the lines is opposite on each group.

Step 3

Next, iron the seam allowances to the right, then trim the excess layer of fabrics at the back about ¼ inch away from the stitching line, and start laying and assembling the pieces as the pattern shows. Now, start sewing the strips one row at a time, then sew the rows together, and quilt however you like.
