Washing your pillowcase frequently isn’t enough, especially if the stain or smell goes deep into the pillow itself, then you need a different and more effective approach. One method that you can try is this brilliant hack by Andrea Jean Cleaning on YouTube, because it effectively deep-cleans your pillows, removes any stains or yellowing, and it also makes your pillow smell fresher and better than ever!

Materials:

  • Oxiclean
  • Essential oil
  • Coffee filter paper
  • Towel

Directions:

Step 1

Fill your bathtub with water, then add some Oxiclean, and mix them well. Place the pillows pushing them down until completely soaked, then leave them for around 20 to 30 minutes depending on the severity and yellowing of your pillows. After half an hour, place the pillows in the washing machine, then position them on the sides nicely as shown in the video, and close the machine’s door.

Step 2

Add some liquid detergent in the proper container and make sure not to add fabric softener, then proceed to wash the pillows, and dry them nicely. Make sure to fluff and squeeze the pillow to make sure that there are no wet clumps to avoid fungal growth. Also, remember to check the care instructions as they can vary from pillow to pillow.

To make your pillow smell amazing, use either a coffee filter paper, hanky, towel, or even a panty liner, then add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, and place it underneath and inside the pillowcase.
