Materials:

  • two different colored fabrics
  • one plain white fabric
  • ruler
  • rotary cutter

Directions:

Step 1

Cut one colored fabric and your plain white fabric into eight 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ squares. Next, cut eight 2″ x 2″ squares in the same colored fabric and eight 2″ x 2″ squares in plain white. Finally, cut four 1 1/4″ x 1 1/4″ squares in a different colored fabric and four 1 1/4″ x 1 1/4″ squares in plain white. Now, draw a diagonal line on each square (except the 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ squares), then place them on the bigger squares. (See the photo below for the placements.) Once done, sew with a 1/4″ seam allowance. After sewing the first batch of squares, cut the excess fabric first, then sew the next batch of squares.

Step 2

After you sew the squares, cut the excess fabric, then sew the 2″ x 2″ squares. Once done, cut the excess, then press them open. Now, start assembling the blocks according to the pattern (see the photo below), then sew them together to complete the block. Press the seams open afterward, then trim the edges.
