Burnt pans are a nightmare because they are tough to clean, especially after a lot of buildup, but if you use the right solution, then this type of problem isn’t something you need to worry about anymore. That is what I love about this cleaning experiment by Clean Freak & Germaphobe on YouTube, she showed different methods and approaches to cleaning a burnt pan, some of them worked pretty well that you just wipe it clean, but they are more toxic than others, while the safer and more natural one worked quite good but you still need a lot of scrubbing. See which one works best for you by watching this video tutorial.

Materials used:

  • Tape
  • Easy-Off cleaner
  • Ammonia
  • Baking soda
  • Dawn dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Paper towel
  • Plastic wrap
  • Scrubbing pad
  • Cleaning gloves

Directions:

Easy-Off Cleaner

In the video tutorial, she first place a tape at the bottom of the pan, one horizontally and the other vertically, then applied the Easy-Off on one exposed part of the pan and covered it with plastic wrap so that it doesn’t dry out. After leaving the solution on the pan overnight, she then wiped it clean, and the burnt bits just come right off so easily.

Ammonia

On the next bare spot, she placed a piece of paper towel, then poured ammonia all over the paper towel, and then covered that part with plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out. After leaving it for a few hours or up to overnight, she then remove the plastic and paper towel, then proceeded to scrub that entire spot. It was effective but the smell was really strong so it would be best to work on it on an open and well-ventilated area.

Baking Soda

For the third method, she applied a generous amount of baking soda all over the spot until covered, then drizzled lots of dish soap, and then placed a piece of paper towel on top. She then covered it with plastic wrap so that it doesn’t dry out, then after leaving it for a few hours up to overnight, she removed the plastic and paper towel and then scrubbed the area well. This did not work as well as the first two ones because you need lots of effort to scrub.

Toothpaste

Now, for the fourth and final spot, she used the toothpaste method which went viral on different social media platforms. The steps are pretty simple, you just need to apply the toothpaste on the part, then cover it with plastic, and leave it overnight. After letting the solution sit on the bottom of the pan, remove the plastic and scrub it well. Although, this step did not work at all because you still need to scrub a lot.
