Materials:

  • 2 x 10″ squares (per each mug rug)
  • 1 pack x quilt-as-you-go 2 & 1/2″ jewel precut batting shapes
  • 1 x quilt-as-you-go 2 & 1/2″ jewel template
  • 1 x quilting clips (pack of 12)
  • 1 x pack of regular patchwork pins

Directions:

Step 1

To begin, use the inside of the template to cut out the heart. Lay the long straight edge close to the fold and cut it. For the backing side, get a solid fabric, and the outside of the template. Put it on top and cut. Now, take your pre-cut batting shapes and float them so that it centered on the backing piece. Do the same thing with both of the heart-shaped pieces. Pin them to secure them in place.

Step 2

Now, fold the backing under twice, then clip as you go around. Take both pieces to the machine and sew right along the edge to hold down the outer portion. After this, set the two halves together and zigzag right along the joint in the center.
