This decor project idea by Chalk It Up Fancy on YouTube is so easy and simple that you can make a couple of these in just a few minutes! This lighthouse literally lights up and you can display it anywhere you want, you can even place it in your garden to add a whimsical vibe. The materials needed for this project are pretty easy to find and most of them you can find in the nearest Dollar store. Learn how to make this now and enjoy crafting!

Materials:

  • 1 large terra cotta pot
  • 1 medium terra cotta pot
  • 1 small terra cotta pot
  • 1 large terra cotta saucer
  • 1 small terra cotta saucer
  • Gray chalk paint
  • Navy blue chalk paint
  • Black chalk paint
  • White chalk paint
  • Paintbrush or foam applicator
  • Sand
  • Mod podge
  • E6000 adhesive
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • X-Acto knife or scissors
  • Jute twine
  • Jute rope
  • Small solar light
  • Fairy lights

Directions:

Step 1

Coat the pots with gray and let them dry completely, then paint the rim with navy blue, and let them dry completely. Dab hot glue around the top of the rim, then adhere jute rope around and cut the excess off, and repeat this step with the rest of the pots. Paint the small saucer white, then set it aside, and let it dry. Using black paint, draw a small door on the large pot, then draw small windows at the center of the medium and small pot, and let them dry completely. Lay the large saucer upside down, then cover it with some mod podge, and pour sand all over until completely covered.

Step 2

Tie jute twine around the bottom of the solar light and seal it with hot glue, then cut the excess, and set it aside. Grab the fairy lights, then insert them through the hole at the bottom of each pot all the way to the very top pot, and pull it down the side. Adhere the small saucer to the top pot placing it right side up using E6000 and hot glue, then adhere the solar light at the very top, and gather the excess fairy lights inside. Put the lid of the light back on, then gently lift the pots, and carefully place them on top of the large dish with the sand as shown in the video.
