I’ve always wanted to try those DIY bottle lamps that I see online because they look so pretty and I find them interesting. Since I have an old lamp in our storage room and an empty bottle in our kitchen, I finally decided to give it a try! This video tutorial by Household Hacker on YouTube is the simplest, easiest, and quickest tutorial I’ve ever watched. The lamp looked so cool and I’ve never had much fun with a DIY project like this one.

Materials:

  • A bottle
  • Pieces of an old lamp or a lamp kit
  • Shade
  • Glass drilling bits
  • A light bulb
  • Pebbles

Directions:

Step 1

First, pick the bottle that you would like to use, but if you want to make the same one as the picture shows, then get a Jack Daniel’s empty bottle. This bottle is easier to work on because of its shape and look. Before you start drilling a hole in the bottle, make sure to clean the inside as well as the outside of the bottle, and remove any traces of alcohol.

Step 2

Now using a glass drilling bit, start drilling a hole at the lower back area of the bottle, just big enough to fit the cord through. Insert the wiring through the bottle, then hook up the lamp housing and place it into the bottle. Add some pebbles inside the bottle as well to add stability and most of all, design. Add a light bulb, then place the shade on the top, and you’re done!
