Recently, I have been planning to make a chandelier using Dollar Store items, but I don’t know where to begin. Fortunately, I found this video tutorial by Ishwari Thadhani on YouTube, and I was instantly hooked on this repurposed project! Just like what I wanted, all of the materials needed for this DIY chandelier can all be purchased in the nearest Dollar store, but if you have fairy lights from previous projects or decor and a hula hoop just lying in your storage, then you can save more money because all that’s left for you to find is some good tape and scissors.

This project also doesn’t require expert-level skills and can be done even if you’re a beginner in crafting, just follow the steps as written below and watch the video tutorial for more details.

Step 1

If you want to paint your hula hoop, then you can start with that, and then set it aside to dry completely. Meanwhile, start taping the three fairy lights together at even intervals, then once the paint has dried on the hoop, start wrapping the strands of string lights around the hoop.

Step 2

Make sure to wrap them a bit tight to each other, especially if your fairy lights are very long, you might also want to do this slowly to prevent them from getting tangled. Once you reach the end of the lights, tape it securely, then tie a few strings around the hoop spacing them evenly, then gather the strings together at the center, and tie them at the center. Now, you can hang your chandelier on a hook attached to your ceiling, and you’re done!
