Tis the season to make beautiful Holiday projects at home! Here’s an easy Christmas tree quilt block pattern by Riley Blake Designs. It’s super easy and quick to make. You’ll do the same process for each layer except for the bottom part, which is the trunk. Even beginners can easily follow the steps. It’s so lovely and definitely the best project for this season.

You can make it into a beautiful quilt just like in the background by combining it with the peppermint block. If you don’t want a quilt, you can also turn the blocks into a table runner. You can also make a beautiful pillow cover with just the Christmas tree block. There are so many options! Turn on some Christmas music when you make this pattern, and you will surely feel the Holiday spirit.

Christmas Tree Quilt Block Pattern Materials

First layer

  • 2 pieces of 6 1/2″ by 2 1/2″ white rectangles and 1 piece of 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ green rectangle

Second layer

  • 2 pieces of 5 1/2″ by 2 1/2″ white rectangles and 1 piece of 6 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ green rectangle

Third layer

  • 2 pieces of 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ white rectangles and 1 piece of 8 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ green rectangle

Fourth and fifth layer

  • 4 pieces of 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ white rectangles and 2 pieces of 10 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ green rectangle

For the trunk

  • 2 pieces of 5 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ white rectangles and 1 piece of 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ brown square

How to Make a Christmas Tree Quilt Block

Step 1:

Start on the first layer. Get one white rectangle and the green rectangle. Place them on top of each other at a 90 degree angle, right sides together, making a letter L. Sew a diagonal along the 90 degree angle, then trim 1/4″ away from the seam. Open and press toward the white. Repeat the process with the other side of the green rectangle.

Step 2:

Repeat step 1 until the fifth layer. The fourth and fifth layer will be the same. For the trunk layer, sew the brown square in the middle of the white rectangles like how you normally do.

Step 3:

Sew all the rows together to make the Christmas tree, then press the block in one direction. It should measure 12 1/2″.
