This is the perfect fathers day gift for any grill-loving dad. You could even customize the board to be something other than grilling. You could even make it to be a hiking or tool theme depending on what the father you’re making it for likes. KraftsbyKatelyn really nailed this DIY, and the best part of all, it’s made from dollar store items, so it will be a super inexpensive gift.

Materials Needed For This DIY:

  • Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Stick On Letters
  • Outdoor Seal
  • Dollar Store Grilling Materials
  • Nautical Rope
  • Wood Boards From Dollar Store
  • Plastic Command Hooks
  • Scissors
  • Sandpaper
  • Hot Glue
  • Drill

Directions:

Step One

Start this project off by painting the backside of your wooden canvas brown. You can do as many coats as you’d like. Then, using a dry brush technique, lightly brush on a lighter brown to create a weathered wood effect.

Step Two

Once your paint is dry, go over the paint with sandpaper to rough up the edges.

Step Three

Spray paint the grill utensils with whatever color you would like them to be. Once they are dry, hot glue them to the middle of the board.

Step Four

Drill two holes in the board, one in each corner. You will later attach the nautical rope through these holes to hang the board up.

Step Five

Glue on the letters “DADS BBQ” across the top using the stick-on letters, or by hand-lettering them.

Step Six

Paint your plastic hooks with the same brown paint you used to paint the board with. Attach the hooks onto the bottom of your board.

Step Eight

Use outdoor mod podge to seal your board and keep it from weathering by the grill.
