Most of us have a hideous old lamp that we  haven’t thrown away yet, or a lamp that doesn’t quite do it for your decor. Well, here’s a way to change that scenario! And, if by chance, you already threw that old lamp away, thrift stores are practically giving them away, so head on down there and grab one so you can make this cool looking lamp!

The way they added rope to this old lamp transforms it into a real neat addition to your room. Whether your decor is rustic, modern or a combination of both, this lamp will literally compliment any style. This lamp especially compliments a nautical decor as well.

I had an old lamp that I was just getting ready to trash when I saw this tutorial. I must say that this is an unbelievably easy and quick project. I love DIY’s that bring results quickly! I’m planning to do another one, that is smaller,  to sit on a little table in my entry way.

Rope covered lamps are all over the place right now, as I spotted more than a handful quite pricey versions at some of our favorite retailers. But, this is SUCH a doable, simple project that you can do in an hours time with some rope purchased from your hardware store, some hot glue and an inexpensive lamp that you probably have in storage!

Watch how Danny Lipford, with Todays Homeowner, does this in his step by step tutorial and make one of these for your home!

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
