Here’s another tutorial by the zany Debi with Debi’s Design Diary! There’s something about her that tickles me! I love her projects and wanted to share another great craft project she does with you. This is such a clever project she does with this chair!

This project was really easy and fun! Debi used scrapbook paper, Mod Podge and two ounces of chalk type paint. She also shows how easy it is to water distress with a damp cloth. The bought her chair for 5$ at the flea market!

To cut the shapes out of scrapbook paper with a tool made by Fiskar’s that she purchased at a craft store. She says if you don’t have one, she provides a template on her website.

I just love this chair that she repurposes! The look she creates by decoupaging a quilt pattern with scrapbook paper truly does look like an old quilt. It’s so charming and unique! I love the way she paints and distresses the chair to give it that old shabby chic look.

Here’s a list of products used to make this projects and links to purchase.

  • Hexagon paper cutter
  • Black oil based sharpieScrapbook paper assortment
  • sponge brush
  • Clear patina, this amazing product is a fantastic decoupage medium, a top coat, a sealer, a glazing gel and a transfer gel in one!
  • DIY paint Fancy Farm Girl
  • DIY Paint Queen Bee
  • Painting rags

Watch how Debi repurposes this old chair into something spectacular!

I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
