I love hand-painted fashion, people have been doing it since the 1920s and it’s still extremely popular! This project was inspired by a current Gucci Floral Painted Jean, that has one of those stunning, don’t try this at home looks. When I saw this YouTube tutorial I knew that wasn’t going to be the case, I wanted them as fast as I could make them! I was totally ready to try my hand at some splattered vines and stamped flowers, regardless of preconceived notions of what my perceived artistic talents were. I was fearless, convinced anyone could do it so I started taking a few practice swings on a large area newspaper mat I laid out in the driveway. I used green for the vines and blue for my flower petal color and white for the dots. The dots had to be white for me because they reminded me of a 70s record cover of the late great, Minnie Ripperton where she was standing in the coolest blue room with a ton of Baby’s Breath scattered randomly throughout her gorgeous 70s hair. I knew every time I looked at them I would be singing “Loving You Is Easy Cause Yor Beautiful”, that was Minnie’s biggest hit and brings back so many memories of driving around town with my friends. As I did them I had to play that song on Spotify loop, because all this reminiscing was genuinely making me paint better.

My finished product was nothing short of amazing, The blues in the flowers were as blue as a BB King song, and of course, the Minnie Ripperton Baby’s Breath was phenomenally beautiful. So the only fair way to debut this project of artistic emotions and show these hand made jeans to an audience who appreciated them was to get tickets to go see Hank Williams Jr. Boy, I cannot wait to wear these with my new boots!
