We all have old jeans sitting around in our closet that we aren’t wearing, or have plastic buckets lingering around in the basement. What’s a better way than working on a DIY craft that you can reuse and recycle into something more useful. This YouTube tutorial by SULTANIN OYUNCAK ATÖLYESİ is a great video to watch and follow along with. There are no verbal instructions, but the video shows how to transform a plastic bucket with your old jeans. This tutorial reminds me of grade school where they teach you how to weave yarn and create blankets or many different other crafts. I love these projects because they are useful to use around the house if you have small things to store. It’s a cute bucket you can put in the corner of the house of under the table.

Supplies:

  • plastic bucket
  • scissors
  • old jeans
  • hot glue gun
  • fabric
  • needle and thread

Directions:

First, start cutting vertical strips from your jeans, and then iron them out until they’re wrinkle-free. Then, you’re going to want to fold in each side into hot dog style and iron down the crease to turn into a long folded thin strip. This can be a long process, but it’s simple.

Next, carve off the top piece of the bucket with the handles off, because you want a seamless bucket. Then, start hot gluing the strips on the top of the bucket and alternate the colors. When that step is finished, you want to start weaving and hot gluing each piece down over and under.

Finally, once the weaving pattern is finished, make the bottom piece of the bucket with the rest of the jeans strips. You want to roll them like a Hubba Bubba tape gum until you get one big one. Keep following along the tutorial SULTANIN OYUNCAK ATÖLYESİ and you’ll have a nice bucket to hold anything in. I want to try this DIY out, but it can be time-consuming. I would use this bucket to hold a lot of miscellaneous things I have laying around the house.
