I never thought much about making a DIY air cooler, until that big feeze hit Texas, of course, I wasn’t thinking about needing an air cooler then, but I was thinking if the power went out in summer, I would really need one! I really thought I was pretty well prepared, but boy was I in for a big shocking experience! I have been thinking of all kinds of ideas now that could help in such a situation. Having a little homemade air cooler is one idea. I really don’t know why I didn’t remember that the power is the first thing to go out when you are in trouble. I should have known that from years of growing up on the coast because I have been through quite a few hurricanes. I searched the internet and found this awesome DIY air cooler video tutorial by Desertsun02, on YouTube, that looked like a good build and design, but not too difficult to make.

Materials For The DIY Air Cooler:

• A cheap styrofoam ice chest
• An elbow joint of PVC
• A small fan
• A solar panel (or battery)
• A large block of ice
• A rectangular bucket (the kind that fits in the sink)
• Water for the ice

Then you will add your fan and your PVC elbow joint and power it up with a battery or solar panel.
