I found the perfect spring project for those who love woodworking! It’s this beautiful DIY front porch hanging flower basket by Kim and Garrett make it. Materials:

  • 2 x 4 x 8-ft whitewood stud
  • 2 x 6 x 8-ft spruce pine fir lumber
  • 1-in x 8-in x 6-ft wood
  • 3-inch screws
  • driller
  • ruler
  • wood glue
  • nail gun or nails (just use a hammer)
  • paint for the frame (any preferred color)
  • black and white paint
  • paintbrush
  • welcome stencil
  • hook
  • hanging plant or basket

 

Instructions:

Step 1:

Cut the wood.

  • top: 1x8x28
  • top frame: 2x4x24
  • signboard: 1x8x21
  • bottom frame: 2x4x21
  • bottom: 2x6x28
  • sides (2 pieces): 2x4x36
  • feet (2 pieces): 1x8x7.5

Step 2:

Assemble the basket stand.  Start with the top frame and the sides – secure them in place with 3-inch screws. Next, connect them to the bottom. Make sure they are aligned.

Step 3:

Add wood glue to the feet and place it on the bottom on both sides. Use a ruler to make sure they are aligned properly, then use a nail gun to attach them. Next, add the top frame.

Step 4:

Paint the frame with your preferred color and the signboard in black. Let it dry completely. Once the signboard is dry, get the welcome stencil and paint with white. Set aside and let it dry.

Step 5:

Put 2 pocket holes on each side of the signboard and attach it to the frame. It should fit perfectly.

Step 6:

Add 2 pocket holes on the bottom frame on each side then attach to the foot of the signboard.

Step 7:

Add a hook on the back, then hang your plant or basket.
