Instructions:

Step 1:

Make the coaster using the 3.5 mm hook. Start with the yellow shade. Work a magic ring. Chain two which is not going to count as a stitch, then work 16 double crochets around the ring. Close the ring by pulling the end.

Step 2:

Go to the very first double crochet right after chain two. Pull up a loop, then slip stitch. Now, chain two which is not going to count as a stitch, then into the same stitch where you did the lip stitch. Work two double crochets into the following stitch. Work two double crochets into the same stitch. Follow the same step all the way around to create double crochet increases into every stitch. For the second round, you should have 32 stitches. Once done, lip stitch into the very first double crochet.

Step 3:

For round 3, you need 48 stitches. Chain one cut off the yarn and fasten off.

Step 5:

Get the pink shade yarn. Work a slip-notch. Go into the chain two spaces and attach with a single crochet.  Chain two, then work 3 double crochets into the same chain two space. Release from the hook, insert the hook into chain two, catch the loop with your hook, and move the loop through chain two. Make it tight and work a chain two and go inside the center, pull up a loop, and pull through two. Repeat two more times. Chain two and single crochet in between the v’s. Repeat the petal all the way around.
