The holiday season is the time of festivity wherein your dinner table is full of different delicious meals and sometimes we just can’t avoid having leftovers. I’ve been there quite a few times, I always experience having leftover smoked turkey. This year, I want to make sure no food is going to waste and I was glad when I discovered that you can still turn your leftover turkey into something incredible without using a lot of ingredients and you don’t even have to tire yourself with the process. So get your crockpots ready because this is another recipe that you can add to your list of favorite dishes. Today’s amazing Jamaican style recipe is made possible by Juliana Mcdonald on her YouTube Channel.
Cut the collard greens into desired pieces, peel an onion and cut into thick chunks then mince the garlic cloves.
In your crockpot, place half of your collard greens at the bottom and tuck them nicely, add the smoked turkey, bacon strips, onion, and garlic. Cover it with the other collard greens and add the sliced butter on top.
In a bowl, put 1 teaspoon each of the combo seasoning, all-purpose seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder (you can substitute the seasonings to your preference or whatever is available on your pantry). Add salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper to taste. Combine all the seasonings then add your broth.
Pour the seasoning mixture on the crockpot. Cook for 6 hours and serve.
