There are ways to improve your house by using natural products to reduce your exposure to chemical products and be healthier. Natural Cures on YouTube uses 2 natural ingredients to make homemade fabric softener. Plus, it’s an eco-friendly alternative and you can use any of your favorite scents or smell. This is a great life hack and tip if you’re trying to slowly convert your house products with natural ingredients. Fabric softeners are a must in my laundry process because of the extra soft and fragrance on my clothes or fabric. I would make small batches of a different variety of scents to choose from. Sometimes it’s crazy to think items in your kitchen could do so much if you’re on a tight budget.

Supplies:

  • 17 oz. coarse salt,
  • 6 tablespoons baking soda,
  • 30 drops of your favorite essential oil (optional)

Directions:

First, put all of the ingredients in a plastic bowl and mix it with a spoon or with your hands. After that, store the mixture in a seal tight container with a screwable lid or fabric softener bottle. The homemade softener will last for at least 45 days.

Overall, this is a fairly cheap and inexpensive way to make a lot of fabric softener instead of store-bought products. Fabric softeners can be expensive over time especially if you do laundry often. This homemade natural fabric softener can make a big batch that will last for quite some time. Also, it’s optional to add the essential oils if you want to save extra money. I’d be interested to make a small batch of my own homemade fabric softener to see if it works.
