This 10 minute DIY makeup bag is an easy sewing project for beginners. You don’t have to know how to sew like an expert to make this quick sewing project. I’ve made these a couple times and have learned that in addition to the tutorial being a great sewing lesson, they also make great DIY gifts for teenage girls. These DIY makeup bags have forced me to get my makeup organization (or lack thereof) under control and I love getting to customize pattern and color combos! Follow this easy step by step sewing tutorial to make your own DIY makeup bag in minutes!
Lay one of your exterior pieces face up and place your zip face down along the same side ensuring that the edges meet.
On top of it, place one of your interior pieces face down so that you have your exterior piece zip sandwiching the interior piece. Pin together and sew it.
After the seam is made, flip it over and switch so that the exterior is facing us along with the zip.
Lay your 2nd interior piece down and place the previous piece that you just sewn on top with seams aligned.
Place your 2nd exterior piece on top sandwiching all the pieces together making sure that the end seams are aligned. Pin it together and you can start sewing. You will now have your exterior piece facing up and the interior piece facing down.
Flip it over so that both exterior pieces are facing outward making sure all pieces are aligned together and pinning along the bottom edge before sewing. And now you can start sewing the edges.
Place your hand inside the tube that was created and you should see the exterior pieces inside and undo the zip at least halfway. This is an important step since we want to have our bag to unfold the right way around when we finish sewing. Line up all the edges and sew this to each line going through the zip. Do the same on the other side.
Place your hand inside so the corners form a triangle and this is going to create the box shape. Across the triangle, measure 7 cm and mark with a pen.
Sew each of the four corners to form the box shape all together and cut any loose threads. Trim any excess corners before flipping it inside out with that space you created by keeping it halfway open
and your DIY Make-Up Bag is done!
