Unlike other soups, this one is served in a bread bowl, making it both very convenient and interesting. Since the bowl is edible, you don’t have to worry about dirty dishes or cleaning up much after mealtime. Learn how to make this today and give it a try, I’m sure your entire family will love it.
Step 1
Place a Dutch oven on a stove over medium heat, then put the ground beef, and break it apart. Add the seasoned salt, onion powder, and black pepper, then give them a good mix, and cook the meat until nicely browned. Drain off all the grease, then transfer the meat to a plate, and set it aside for layer. In the same pot, fry the chopped bacon until crispy, then set aside on a plate, and then saute the onion for about 2 minutes or until translucent.
Step 2
Add the flour, then cook them for 1 minute to remove the flour taste, and pour in some of the beer broth. deglaze and gently scrape the bottom of the pot, then pour the rest of the broth, and give them a good mix. Add the onion powder, black pepper, seasoned salt, and Worcestershire sauce (if desired), then mix everything until well combined, and throw in the diced potatoes.
Step 3
Give them a good mix, then bring the soup to a boil for about 10 to 12 minutes until almost done or fork tender, and then pour in the heavy cream. Stir the soup until well combined, then add the shredded cheese in two batches, and stir well in between each addition until melted. Add the cooked meat, then give them a good mix, and stir the ground mustard. Add some more salt if needed, then add the bacon, and let the soup simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 4
Once the soup is cooked, get a loaf of bread and cut off the top, then hollow out the inside with a knife as shown in the video, and brush it with melted butter. Transfer the bread to a baking pan lined with aluminum foil, then ladle the soup into the bread bowl, and top it with more shredded cheese. Place it in an oven preheated at 400°F, then let it bake for about 5 to 10 minutes, and serve. Enjoy!
