Easy Reusable Petal Gift Bag Tutorial

This pretty petal gift bag by Tamara’s Joy // Sewing Channel on YouTube is so easy to make and even beginners can give it a try. This DIY bag is also reusable and washable which makes it even more convenient and budget-friendly.

It’s made up of only 2 fabrics and you can use any combination of colors or prints that you want, and you can even make this into a larger or smaller size. For now, learn the basics of doing this project by watching the video tutorial below.

Materials for Reusable Petal Gift Bag:

• 2 contrasting fabrics
• Ribbon
• Safety pin
• Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
• Ruler
• Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
• Fabric pins
• Needle and thread
• Iron, for pressing
• Sewing machine

How to Make Reusable Petal Gift Bag:

Step 1

Cut the main and lining fabric into 16-inch squares, then lay them together with their right sides facing, smooth them out, and clip them in place. Sew around the entire fabric leaving a small gap for turning, then trim the corners at an angle, and turn it right side out.

Step 2

Push the corners nicely, then tuck the edges of the opening, and topstitch all the way around with ¼ inch seam allowance. Fold the points over about 3½ inches as shown in the video, then clip them in place, and stitch them about ½ inch from the folded edge.

Step 3

Attach a safety pin on the end of a piece of ribbon, then thread it through the holes on all sides, remove the pin, and pull both ends of the ribbon tightly. Turn the piece over, then remove the pin, and tie the ribbon nicely.
