How to Make a Mountain Meadows Quilt Block

Materials for Mountain Meadows Quilt Block:

• 2 contrasting fabric
• Background fabric
• Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
• Ruler
• Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
• Fabric pins
• Needle and thread
• Iron, for pressing
• Sewing machine

How to Make Mountain Meadows Quilt Block:

Step 1

Download and print the pattern, then cut the fabrics to size, sort them into groups, and label them. Make the square-in-a-square block unit, get the fabric A and C squares, then draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the small squares, and place 2 squares on opposite corners of the A square with their right sides facing.

Step 2

Stitch them along the line, then trim off the excess layers ¼ inch away from the stitching line, and press the fabrics open. Do the same for the remaining opposite corners of the block unit, then set them aside, and proceed to make the small flying geese units.

Step 3

Get the fabric F rectangles and E squares, then line the wrong side of the squares diagonally, and place one square on one side of the rectangle with their right sides facing. Stitch along the marked line, then trim off the excess and press the fabric open.

Step 4

Do the same to the other side of the rectangle, then repeat these steps for the remaining fabric rectangles and squares. Get the fabric D rectangle, then stitch it to each flying geese unit, and make sure to match the green fabrics to each other as shown in the video.

Step 5

Get two units together, then stitch them beside each other, and press them nicely. Arrange everything together, refer to the pattern and the video tutorial, then stitch them per row, and then the rows to each other, make sure to give it a nice press.
