Make sure your shoes are machine washable. Check the manufacturer’s instructions to make sure that they won’t get damaged in the washing machine.
Use a soft bristle brush or a damp cloth to gently scrub the exterior of your shoes to remove soil and stains.
Remove the laces and insoles if possible. Place the shoes, laces, and insole inside a mesh laundry bag. Place inside the washing machine, followed by some old towels or rags. Be sure to distribute them evenly so the washing machine won’t become unbalanced during the cycle.
Add a small amount of mild detergent to the detergent compartment. Do not use bleach or any harsh chemicals.
Choose a delicate wash cycle with cold water. Do not use hot water as it can shrink or damage your shoes.
Start the washing machine. Allow it to complete the washing and rinsing phase. To ensure all detergent residue is thoroughly removed, opt for an extra rinse cycle.
Once done, remove shoes from the laundry bag, then gently reshape if necessary. You can stuff the shoes with clean towels or newspaper to help absorb the moisture and maintain their shape while drying. Allow them to air dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight or heat.
Reattach the shoes and insoles.
