Step 1

Inflate the balloon to the desired size, then secure it with a knot, and draw a line around the top a few inches from the not for the opening of the lantern. Rip up the transparent paper into 2-inch pieces, then mix together equal parts of Mod Podge and water in a bowl, and start applying some of the mixture on the bottom of the balloon.

Step 2

Place the ripped paper however you want, then apply more glue over it, and keep adding pieces until the entire ballon is covered but make sure to stop right where you drew the line. Add another layer of paper over the existing layer but make sure it’s not too thick that it can’t illuminate the light inside, then place the pressed leaves and flowers all over the balloon however you want, and place a piece of paper over them along with more glue to keep them in place.

Step 3

Leave it to dry completely, then pop the balloon, and carefully remove it from the lantern. Cut two pieces of wire, then stick it through the top edge about 1 inch down, and twist the ends together. Repeat the same to the opposite side, then insert the twine through the wire rings, and place a tealight inside before hanging your lantern.
