- Sweater
- Fabric
- Interfacing fabric
- Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
- Ruler
- Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
- Fabric pins
- Needle and thread
- Iron, for pressing
- Sewing machine
How to Make Stylish Cardigans From Old Sweaters:
Style #1
Fold the sweater in half lengthwise, then measure 20 inches from the bottom, and cut out the excess. Mark the neck and armholes, then cut them out, unfold them, and ensure the edges match. Start stitching the sides, then stitch the edges of the neck and armholes, tuck in the edges of the opening, and topstitch.
Style #2
Mark the midpoint of the sweater and line it up, then cut it open, and prepare the fabric for the collar and lining. Fuse them with interfacing, then stitch the lining to the collar, and stitch them in place as shown in the video. Lastly, add the button holes and buttons.
