How to Clean Limescale on Faucets Naturally

Limescale is a white and chalky buildup that consists of calcium carbonate and is also known as hard water. This buildup is commonly found on surfaces that are usually and frequently touched by water such as the inside of pipes, kettles, boilers, in and around faucets, sinks, and bathtubs. Cleaning faucets with limescale can be difficult and annoying and when you do try to scrape them off, you just do more harm than good and only end up leaving scratches on your faucet.

There are a lot of commercial products that you can buy from the store, but if you don’t like that idea and want to opt for a more natural approach, then you can just use lemon and vinegar which you may already have available in your house or kitchen! These two ingredients work because they both contain citric acid which is very effective in breaking down limescale deposits without having to exert too much or spend a lot of money. How to Get Rid of Limescale on a Faucet:
Step 1
First, slice a fresh lemon in half crosswise, then push the cut side of a lemon half into the spout of the faucet, and make sure to sink the spout into the lemon slightly. You can also rotate the lemon back and forth to make sure that the spout gets all of the juice. To make sure that the lemon stays in place, put a plastic bag around the neck of the faucet as tight as possible to make sure the lemon is where it’s supposed to be, and then secure it in place by tying it with a rubber band.
Step 2
Leave it for a few hours or overnight depending on the limescale build-up on your faucet. For the upper parts of your faucet, you can wrap them with cotton wool or a cloth soaked in either white vinegar or lemon juice. The next morning or after a few hours, discard the plastic bag and lemon, then gently brush the faucet with a toothbrush or microfiber cloth, and use a toothpick to clean out the spray holes. Finish it off by rinsing the faucet with hot water.
