If you’re tired of looking at your hideous old countertops, never fear! Here’s an easy solution to that problem. Concrete countertops are all the rage in new homes and remodeled homes these days and they are much more affordable than putting in marble. They give you an upscale urban look and you will be so pleased with the results. This is a great DIY project, especially if you’re on a budget!

It was no surprise that when I bought my home, the countertops were laminate. I tried to embrace them. But the coffee, red wine and other stains took a lot of scrubbing to get out. And I kept on having to glue back down the strips along the sides of the counter and the top of the back splash. The time had come for a change.

The nice thing about laminate countertops is that you can cover them up! I’ve had those white laminate countertops and there wasn’t a second that went by that they didn’t look dirty…you could see every crumb! I love the look of concrete and I’m excited to say that this is a fairly easy project.

Earlier this year I resolved to upgrade the kitchen–essentially with little or no budget. Some paint on the cabinets did wonders to lighten the space, so the countertops were next on the list. I wanted something durable, attractive, easy, inexpensive, maintenance-free, and stain-proof. My needs were great, and my budget small. I figured concrete counters would fit those constraints.

I cannot tell you how happy I am to have these counter tops…I’m over the moon! I feel like a kid in a candy shop when I go into my kitchen now!
