What You Need to Remove Urine Stains

• enzyme cleaning solution
• brush
• wet/dry vacuum or carpet spot extractor
• 6% hydrogen peroxide
• household ammonia
• plastic wrap
• a pot filled with hot tap water
• white towel

How to Remove Urine Stains From Carpet

Step 1:

First, wear gloves. Spray the enzyme cleaning solution to the stained area. Lightly brush it with an old toothbrush. Let it sit for 5 minutes.

Step 2:

Using your wet/dry vacuum, absorb the urine and enzymes from the carpet.

Step 3:

Repeat steps 1 and 2 until all stains are removed.

How to Remove Old Urine Stains From Carpet

Step 1:

Wear gloves and a mask. Make sure to do this outside and in a well-ventilated space. Do the same 3 steps above. Once done, quickly rinse the stained area with water to remove the cleaning agent, then remove as much moisture from the carpet as possible. You can use the vacuum or old towels to absorb the moisture.

Step 2:

Note: ammonia and hydrogen peroxide should be in separate containers and should not be mixed until they are sprayed onto the carpet.

Add 3 parts of 6% hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. Next, in a different spray bottle, add 1 part of household ammonia. Liberally apply the 6% hydrogen peroxide to the stained area. Next, spray the household ammonia.

Step 3:

Cover the stain with a plastic wrap and place the pot filled with hot tap water. Make sure to place the lid. The max temperature should be 158F or 70C. Allow it to sit for 30 minutes.

Step 4:

After 30 minutes, remove the pot and cling wrap. Use a white towel to absorb the hydrogen peroxide and ammonia from the carpet.
