Independence Day is just around the corner and what better way to commemorate or celebrate that special day than to make patriotic decor! One of my favorite things to make are wreaths, hanging ornaments, and of course, lanterns.

What I love about lanterns is that you can use them as decor even after the holiday has passed, and they are very inexpensive and easy to make. If you want to make your own set and learn how then watch this video tutorial by One Little Project on YouTube!
#1: Star Jar Lantern
Clean your mason jars with soap and water or wipe the exterior with rubbing alcohol, then place the star stickers on the surface of the jar, and cover it with blue paint using a cotton ball dipped in paint.
Make sure to cover the entire jar up to the neck, then change the cotton ball as needed, and set the jar aside to dry completely, apply a second coating if desired.
Using a craft knife, trace around the outside of the star sticker, then gently peel the sticker away, and do the same to the rest of the stickers.
#2: Striped Jar Lanterns
Paint the whole exterior of the jar white, then add a second coating if necessary, and allow it to dry completely.
Using painter’s tape, create 2 horizontal stripes, then attach the pieces as straight as possible, and push the tape down with your finger making sure it’s completely flat on the glass.
Apply red paint over the white parts of the jar, then let dry, and gently remove the tape. Make a second mason jar with a stripe design to complete the flag.
