This wonderful quilt block idea by Carol Thelen on YouTube is very easy to piece together and is a great activity to keep you busy this weekend. Watch this video tutorial and follow the easy step-by-step instructions to make your version of this quilt block. Enjoy quilting!
Step 1
Cut the fabrics to size, then take the fabric pieces for the flying geese unit, and piece them together. To make the flying geese unit, place the large background fabric square at the center, then rotate it so that it’s shaped like a diamond, and place a dark print square at the top and bottom corners with their right sides facing and edges matching.
Step 2
Line them in half from corner to corner, then stitch on either side of the line, and cut them in half. Press the seams open, then cut off the nubs, and trim off to size at the same time. Place another square on the remaining corner, line it in half, stitch it on either side of the line, and cut it in half.

Step 3
Press the seams and cut off the nubs, then proceed to do the same steps to the light print fabric pieces. Line the wrong side of the large light print square in half vertically, horizontally, and diagonally, then stitch on either side of the diagonal lines, and cut them along the marked lines.
Step 4
Press them open, then cut off the nubs, and you’ll have half-square triangles. Start laying out all of the pieces and assemble them as shown in the video or the diagram, then stitch them per row, and then the rows to each other making sure to press the seams as you go.
