Cleaning grease and oil buildup is never an easy task to tackle, especially if we’re talking about years of gunk. But, that was until I discovered this cleaning method by Traveling Trex on YouTube and I was surprised by how easy and effective it is in cleaning a range hood filter that is filled with grease and oil. IT didn’t even require any scrubbing or effort at all, because all you got to do is to soak the filter in the solution for a couple of minutes and wait for the incredibly impressive result. It is also best to do this cleaning method with utmost care to ensure your or your tools’ safety, you can wear protective gloves, masks, etc. if you want, or just do the 1st or bucket method instead.

Place the filter in a plastic bucket, then add a generous amount of detergent over it, and pour hot water until fully submerged. Let it soak for a couple of minutes, then remove the filter, and give it a good rinse. Another method you can try is to put the filter in a large pan, then add about 2 tablespoons of detergent over it, and pour in around 4 cups of water until covered. Place the pan on a stove over low heat, then allow the filter to soak in the solution and heat up for about 20 to 25 minutes. After roughly half an hour, turn off the heat, then remove the filter out of the solution using tongs, and give it a good rinse.
