Cut the tangerine into equal halves.
Peel each half carefully as a whole. Use a spoon to make the process easier for you. You can use the flesh for recipes later on or you can eat them on their own. Do not ever use dried peel, because they will simply burn up.
Put the candlewick in the middle of the tangerine peel “bowl”, then fill it a quarter of the way up with olive oil. Make sure that it’s standing upright. This will act as the base of your candle. Make sure not to use too much olive oil to avoid any accidents.
Get the other half of the peel and draw a star or circle on the bottom. Cut the drawn shape. This opening will keep the flame from burning the top part of the candle.
Wait for the wick to soak up some of the olive oil, then light it up.
Place the other half of the peel with the hole on top. This candle will stay lit for about 30 minutes.
