This pretty quilt block idea by Carol Thelen on YouTube is super simple and easy to piece together, plus, this is a great way to use those fun and colorful fabrics that you have. This is also great practice for beginners in quilting and I’m sure that this is a project that they will enjoy. So if you want to learn how now, then proceed to read the written instructions down below, and watch the video tutorial, too!
Step 1
Cut the fabrics into size as instructed in the pattern, then get the patch B background and dark print squares, and lay them together with their right sides facing. Draw a line on the wrong side of the lighter fabric diagonally from corner to corner, then stitch them together on either side with a ¼ inch seam allowance, and cut them in half along the drawn line. Press the piece open, then repeat with the rest of the pieces, take 2 half-square triangles, 1 background square, and 1 dark accent fabric, and piece them together into a block.

Step 2
Next, piece together the center and side pieces, then assemble them together along with the block units to form the “Four X Star” block, and then start stitching them together making sure to press every now and then. Continue to make more blocks using the same steps above, then add the sashing, border, backing, and binding, and quilt it however you want.
